Let’s make it together – Pooja Shah

Whenever I go back to my school days, I realize how I used to think that after few years a day would come when the strikes would be brought to the end forever and the country would gain political and economical stability. I had a strong feeling that I would be a part of the country which would be the most fascinating place to live in from each and every aspect and establish itself as the peace loving country once again. Now, looking at the present political and economic scenario of my country, I am forced to question myself, was I really wrong to dream about my country? Was I wrong to dream my country to be politically and economically stable and the best place to live in?

I have no idea whom should I blame for the present situation of my country. Each time when I go through the news channels and printed media, I land up making a conclusion about the person behind it. Sometime I feel that the citizens are so innocent and only the political parties are to be blamed for the present scenario as they are not seemed to be responsible towards addressing the citizens’ need and drafting the long waited constitution in time. The next time I realize how wild and heartless the people have become. Is it that easy to murder someone being a human who are supposed as the most intelligent and sensible being. I want to ask how their souls allow them to do such inhuman activities.

I am amazed by how my identity would be changed in spite of being within the same national boundary. How can a border within my nation justify my identity?  Whichever state I am going to be, that should not affect my identity. After all, I was, I am and I will always be a Nepali till my last breathe.

The truth is that how much do we fight in the name of state boundary or in the name of caste and religion, we are going to hamper our own identity and existence as Nepalese and going to land in to unimaginable disasters in coming days.  I would not be wrong to say that we would be in the worst situation ever in the history of Nepal and be crushed by the enemies who are keeping their wicked eye in our country. The best way to avoid the consequences of those disasters is very simple and it is in the hand of each of us. The only thing we should do is to live together with cooperation and harmony as a big united Nepalese family. The story of bundle of stick is known by everyone and we can imagine ourselves as the characters of the story. The situation of our country is no more different than the story. Individually, we are like the single sticks and we are tied up with the mark of being Nepalese which protects us from being broken. Our country resides between two powerful economies of the world, India and China. Our unity is only the sole reason that has protected us from these giant nations from being crushed and eaten up.  So, I would like to request you all to take an initiation from yourselves and come together. Let us join our hands together to create a sound environment where people would feel safe enough to live their life freely and express their thoughts despite of the fact whoever we are and which region we belong. And we should never forget the fact that we all are Nepalese and belong to Nepal before belonging to any other social and cultural groups.
