   BPKIHS, Dharan
Waking up to the beautiful bhajans
Sung soulfully in a melodious voice,
And the aroma of food in the kitchen,
Cooking everything of my choice.
I miss them all.

The hands touching my head and face,
Blessing me with happiness and success,
The warm hugs melting away my stress
And saving me from mummy's chase.
I miss them all.

The three months supply of aap ko achar,
That I gulped down within a few weeks.
Updating me on reality shows' singing stars,
Watching the latest serials and movies.
I miss them all.

Viewing even small achievements as very big,
Introducing me proudly to all our relatives.
Our late night discussions that were deep,
With you answering my questions half asleep.
I miss them all.

The error free English conversations we had
with your grammar lessons, were fruitful.
The stories about my grandpa and your dad,
Also your childhood in boarding school.
I miss them all.

Listening to your life's happy memories
And the morals taught by your worries,
Observing your confidence and expertise,
Watching you work even with pain in knees.
I miss them all.

The phone calls and video calls that I awaited,
Wishing for me, everything good,
Learning to use technology to stay connected,
Liking and commenting on posts on Facebook.
I miss them all.

Calling to give me some gifts and money,
Reminding me to take care of bhai, papa and mummy,
Crocheting soft sweaters perfectly,
While always worrying whether I would be hungry.
I miss them all.

Cherishing the moments with a joyful surprised expression,
Surrounded by family when cutting the cake,
Teaching about our customs and traditions,
Being the first one to apply tika on every forehead.
I miss them all.

Smiling through months of severe pain,
With positive attitude, not much complain,
Being grateful for the little gains,
Learning to dance in the rain.
I miss them all.

Now I can't touch the hands that nurtured me,
Or feel the wrinkles where smiles had been.
In the house, hear her laughter echoing
Or smell her pleasant scent therein.
I miss them all.

What remains are lifelong memories,
Some photos, videos, objects to cherish.
Though you may be out of our sight,
You'll forever live in my heart and mind.
I miss you Aama !
