POLITICS and CONSEQUENSES – Shashank Pokharel

The modern Nepalese history begins in 1769 ad when the kingdom of Nepal was conquest by the Gurkha king Prithi Narayan Shah. After that the kingdom of nepal was ruled under the de jure of shah king fluently, until in 1846 Jung Bahadur Rana conquered the mass  in kot massacre and come to a supreme power as a sritinprime minister of Nepal as a de facto ruler .Finally in 1951 king  Tribhuwan brought a democracy to her country but did not lasted long.

Free elected ministry council was soon dismissed by king Mahendra and started Panchayat regime. After the democracy moment in 1990 the panchayat regime was abolished by king Birendra.Another controversial massacre in 2001 lead king Gyanendra to rule the country along with coup till 5 years. But the people of Nepal who already  had tasted the nectar of democracy threw the king off the power and started ruling there country by themself so calling it "republic". History has thoroughly shown us the instability in the power of the kingdom since 18th century till now. This instability has lead nepal to degradation for sure.

The Nepalese politic has always been interesting .The ups and thrust in the power and  the cause of dramatic change in the power controlling is elaborated by the history itself. After king Prithi Narayan Shah his son Pratap Shah ruled just for 2 years leading an infant ruler king RanaBahadur Shah .During this era since the king was an infant under the regime of her majesty queen mother and uncle Bahadur Shah, the political scenario was in the favor of prime minister BhimSenThapa to flourish as a great leader. But the  controversial dispute of pandeys and Thapas demolished the power of leader BhimsenThapa. Thus creating instability in leadership .The rise of Rana polity in Nepal has a direct link in the instability of the leadership. It can be easily analysis, that conflict of ruling interest was too serious to be resolved, since the murder of Gagan  Singh. The personal interest and inner greed of power has leaded a politics ofNepal to coup under a dictator.King being a infant power and  thecompetition  between Mukhtiyars like Pandeys and Thapas was the best chance for Jung Bahadur to rise in the power.

Similarly, if we took a glance in the history of France. Long term instability in the politics during post-French revolution period which lasted for one decade was a major cause of emperor NapoleonBonaparte to get in the power and rule the country. The 10 year civil war and common people in there own way of ruling was the best chance for emperor Napoleon  to take a right step or can be called as "good chance in correct time"

The overall  point here is that present situation of our country is more or less similar in the state of instability and a civil war. None of the leaders arefound much pleasing in there commands. The casebecome worst after the fall of Kingship and  new republic system. It is afraid to realize the fact that, conquering the unstable state has always been a easy task by the dictators. If we recollect the fact that Nepal has been in such  poor political stage for nearly one decade as we all know that history repeats and it is warning and giving a sign that any time the country can be in the hand of single man ,with a single rule. May be some day  sooner or later country could be in a dangerous rule with a hard dictatorship and no more democracy until this instability and civil wars are broke immediately  with a peaceful strong  leadership. Today our country lacks a stability in many things and this can be a good chance for a any other hands to take over the democracy once again.
