An Open Letter to the Prime Minister: So little done, So much to do

A Nepali writes,

Dear Prime Minister

I hope you are in good health. So that you can shoulder the mammoth responsibilities you inherited after dethroned Mr. KP Sharma Oli blaming him with various charges. You told that Oli Government was unable to provide relief to earthquake victims, unable to carry-out reconstruction work and wasn’t serious about the Madesh issue. You may have been right about all of that. And hence you justified replacing him. This means, all the burden of all those incomplete works are now onto your shoulder. Meanwhile, you gently signed a Gentleman’s agreement with Mr. Sher Bahadur Deuba agreeing upon allowing Mr. Deuba to succeed you after 9 months, which means you have limited time to complete these incomplete work.

Let me remind you that on the day of your swearing-in ceremony, you declared that you will provide the first instalment of relief funds to earthquake victims. Let me also remind you, you failed. But “technically, failing to keep up with promises is not a failure in Nepali politics. So I think it will be harsh and unfair on my part to “drag” you into this controversy.

So that doesn’t stand. Let me instead remind you that Later on, you actually tried providing those funds to the victims. But unfortunately as always, that couldn’t reach into the hands of earthquake victims. Anyways, nice try sir. Let us not dig the past now. That’s is too reactionary and regressive, the two favourite words you regularly use to describe your dissidents. So focusing on the present, I am still not able to find you as our prime’s minister carry out his work for which you were assigned. Added to that,  the three level elections (local, state and national) hanging around your neck like swords. As of today, the assigned tasks are incomplete and sad as it may sound, you are lurking briskly towards history books as towards the list of villains of this country.

Speaking as your well-wisher, I am constantly beginning to believe that you infact gave a political boon to KP Oil by dethroning him. In the greed of the premiership, you may have committed one of the blunders of your life. Believe me though, I am speaking as a well-wisher. You can imagine how the rest of the country might be evaluating you. Changing the topic to somewhat brighter side (which in fact is equally dark), you have 5 more months to arise as a hero for this country. You can still make the reconstruction work a reality, focus in providing relief funds and you can even succeed fulfilling your tall claim of addressing the Madesh issue, which you explicitly agreed was your brain child. There is time. And the plan is simple, found even in the school activity diaries of a fifth grader (no offense to the childrens). Make a list of priorities and the “actually” (not political) need to fulfill them .So far we have not restored peace in the country and indirectly (and directly) you are also primarily responsible for it. Now, it is your last chance to work for this country and to clear the debt of this country. Otherwise, you will be remembered for only the negatives you have brought onto this country. ‘So little time, So much to do” is what we want to hear from you.

I stress, once again. Otherwise this country will not forgive him. All the Best.

Regards,

A Nepali.
